Brain Dead aka Dead Alive

Great humor and lots of twists throughout the story and tons gore, which you won’t forget anytime soon, makes the Brain Dead the wackiest zombie movie we have ever seen.
Before Lord of the Rings, the new Zealand director Peter Jackson did some very mentionable movies including the alien invasion themed Bad Taste from 1987 and the puppet comedy splatter "Meet the Feebles" from 1989 and our favorite by far Brain Dead from 1992.
Brain Dead is also known as Dead Alive and the storyline revolves around a man living with his mother, who forbids him to date the young woman he has the hot’s for.
His mother gets bitten by an infected rat. She dies after an illness, causing her ears to fall off, one among other very gore things in the movie, and soon she resurrects as a flesh eating, mutated zombie. Shortly after the zombie infection spreads to the neighborhood, and you have the perfect setting for zombie mayhem and the use of a huge number of gallons of blood.
One of the best moments in Brain Dead includes a lawn mower, which proves to be most efficient in terms of chopping of zombie limps and of course in the final showdown with the heavily mutated zombie mother. Its efficiency actually made us consider implementing a lawn mower in our game Zombie Pandemic, but then again it’s probably more suitable in a game like Dead Rising where it’s also being used as a zombie weapon with equal efficiency.
The verdict: 3.5 out of 5
