Thus if you don't like Facebook games like Farmville, CityVille and particularly FrontierVille, you probably won’t like Zombie Lane either. However if you do, you will most likely enjoy the twist of having to build a home and protect it from the invading hordes of zombies in a mix which includes a lot of goofy humor and whacking zombies with shovels.
The game puts you a suburban neighborhood which has been reduced to rubble with your house in the middle of it. The player has to rebuild the home and encounters several other characters on the way doing so in a short plot evolving around reuniting with your wife and dog. In order to get there just must turn the debris around you into items you use to rebuild your home and grow crops that turn into energy-filled food which gives you more action points similar to the FrontierVille game concept.
The combat usually involves a few click on the zombies but adding "special zombies" to suburb means special items are sometimes required which can be combined using different objects similar to the concept in Dead Rising and in Zombie Pandemic. You never have to fear the zombies though, as the only effect of fighting them is actually being stunned and the worst they can do is to destroy your crops and fences.
Though the game only allows you play a very few minutes like many other free2play games, then wait a couple of hours and come back to play more due to the fact you got very energy points, it actually does a great job offering you a quest structure which does a great job keeping in you interested in your objectives and gives a nice feel of progression.
A cool feature is being able to decorate your home which is of course your safe zone which doesn't impact the game but adds to the feeling of expanding the borders and increasing your fields.
Though the style and violence is cartoony like most Facebook games we still feel it’s colorfully represented and overall visually smooth. Though a bit more complex quest structure and combat system would have been nice Zombie Lane is still a very fun game and definitely worth checking out if you want a more casual game.
